Cambridgeshire, UK, 27 July 2014 ... Lumora, a provider of state-of-the-art molecular diagnostic products for the clinical and industrial market, announces the completion of the development of its Buccal Swab DNA Extraction Kit at the AACC conference in Chicago. The new DNA Extraction Kit is Suitable for use with PCR, isothermal amplification systems and NGS, and takes less than 15 minutes to get a result.
The easy to use, robust and cost effective solution involves only two steps. The swab is briefly rotated in a test tube and then incubated at room temperature followed by Lumora’s novel Heat Elution process, the sample is then extracted. This approach has significant advantages over existing technology, being not only quick, but sample preparation can also be carried out without the need for specialised laboratory equipment.
Lawrence Tisi, CEO of Lumora, said: “With the increased use of DNA for a range of uses across society, there is a need for rapid, accurate and easy to use solutions for sample preparation. Our new buccal swab DNA extraction system provides that solution with a large number of applications across both the clinical and non-clinical sectors.”
Hayden Jeffreys, Commercial Director at Lumora, added: “Lumora has developed a strong position in developing improved sample preparation technologies. The completion of our Buccal Swab DNA Extraction system significantly builds on that portfolio, providing Lumora with an increased range of commercial opportunities.”
